Studio Policies
Stay on top of our student policies to make sure your dancer is ready for their time at the studio.
1
Attendance & Tardiness
Attendance will be monitored each month. We encourage consistent attendance as this promotes a strong work ethic and will give each dancer the best results in regards to training.
New this season: Dancers arriving 10 minutes late to any class will not be permitted to attend that particular class, no matter the reason. We understand that “things” may happen, but we will stick strongly to this rule, as tardiness tends to disrupt the class and can be unsafe for the dancer who will not be properly warmed up for their class. Any dancer that is not allowed into class due to tardiness is more than welcome to make-up that particular class.
2
Make- Up Policy
In order to receive a makeup class, parents must login to their SMDC account and schedule an absence at least one (1) day in advance. This allows for others to attend class in their place. Allow 24 hours during the week and 48 hours over the weekend for the absence to be marked as eligible for a make-up. After that you will be able to schedule a makeup class through the parent portal. Please note that makeups are first come, first serve basis. You will have to the end of the session, unless otherwise stated, to schedule a make-up class within your current level (or level below) and is limited to one per month. Makeup classes are non transferable to another session or dancer, cannot be used as credit, or used to extend a dancer’s enrollment.

PLEASE NOTE: During our Spring session makeup classes will not be allowed four (4) weeks before the recital since each class will be focusing on their recital piece. If you know that your dancer will be absent during the final weeks before the recital then please schedule absences ahead of time to receive your makeup class.
3
Early/Class Cancellation Fee
If a student withdraws early from the session for a non-medical emergency the credit card on file will be charged an additional $55 early cancellation fee (per class) and no refunds will be made once tuition charges go through. In addition, if you are unable to attend the class you initially registered for you must cancel your dancer’s enrollment, via email, two (2) weeks prior to the start of classes. Any cancellations after that will incur a fee equal to the amount of the first week of classes. All transactions are final so please do not ask to be the exception.
4
Etiquette
Students are expected to arrive to class on time, in proper attire. If a student is continuously tardy, he/she may be asked to change classes to a more convenient time.

Students arriving ten minutes late to class will not be permitted to attend that particular class.
All dancers should act in a respectful and attentive manner. If an instructor determines a dancer’s behavior unacceptable, the dancer will be asked to excuse themselves from the class into the lobby area and will be supervised by SMDC’s front desk staff. If an instructor and the admin at SMDC determines that a dancer should no longer participate in instruction due to unacceptable behavior, the parents will be notified and SMDC has the right to refuse further instruction.
5
Water Breaks
Dancers are encouraged to bring their own water to class and programs and keep it in their dance bags or it may be kept in the classroom off to the side. Instructors will offer water breaks when necessary and during appropriate times, such as changing from barre to center or between combinations. Students are asked to take water breaks during the designated times in class. Interruptions mid-class for water breaks can cause a class to loose focus. We encourage students to use water breaks at the proper times and have sufficient water prior to class, especially during hot seasons.

In the event that a student has forgotten water, one may be provided to your child for an additional $2 fee. The charge will be billed to your online account and card on file charged.
6
Late Fees
All accounts will be given a 7 day grace period after which a $25 late fee will be added to your account. Please come to the office and speak with us if you are having a difficult time paying as we are always willing to work with our dance families. If accounts continue to go unpaid we will have to remove your dancer from their classes.
7
Early Drop-off & Late Pick-up
The studio is not responsible for dancers that are dropped off earlier than their classes begin. Plan to arrive 5-10 minutes before their class begins so they can be prepared. In the afternoons and on Saturdays we have back to back classes happening so we, staff and teachers, are not always able to watch dancers whose parents are late and their accounts will incur a $1 per minute cost after a 10 minute grace period. If there is an emergency please text the studio at (626) 381-9003 or email us at info@sierramadredancecenter.com and let us know you will be late or need to drop your dancer off a few minutes earlier.
