Getting Started

New Families

New to our studio? Here is how to get started at SMDC...

Getting Started

Whether your dancer is a preschooler looking to get started in their first group class, a pre-teen looking to take their TikTok moves into a class, or a student who is ready to train at a higher level to reach their dance dreams, SMDC offers opportunities for every type of dancer.

Our Developmental classes are available for open enrollment through our website. Our Training Program offers a set schedule of classes for students looking for a higher level of training. An evaluation* is required for the Training Program.

1

Explore our website to see all that SMDC has to offer. Visit our Class Descriptions page to see which program and class is right for your dancer. Each program page will lead you to the latest schedule and enrollment page.

2

Use the Parent Portal under FAMILY HUB to create an account and complete the online registration process. Once you have an account, you can sign up for classes, check your schedule, schedule absences and makeup classes, and pay your balance all through your parent portal. If your new student is interested in joining our Training Program please email or call us directly about scheduling an evaluation. *Note: There is an evaluation fee.

3

Please be sure to subscribe to our email list at the bottom of each web page so you stay connected with us. Also make sure that info@sierramadredancecenter.com is marked as "important" in your email in-box. We do the majority of our communications through email.

4

Make up policy. If you can't make it to your scheduled class, thats ok! Submit your absence through the Parent Portal under "Absences and Makeups". Students can make up one missed class a month in any style within your age and level. Also, please remember, makeups are not allowed 4 weeks before the spring recital as all classes will be rehearsing their specific piece. See our full makeup policy here.

Getting Ready for Class

1

We are located at 154 West Sierra Madre Blvd, in the heart of Sierra Madre Village. There is a large parking lot that we share with the church directly behind our building. To help the flow of the parking lot traffic, enter from the driveway off of Sierra Madre Blvd. between the church and the studio. Exit should take place at the driveway leading to Mariposa Ave.

2

Check your confirmation email or schedule on the Parent Portal for the rooms assigned to your dancer’s class. We have access to the studio through both the front and rear doors.

3

Please review the required dress code for each class. If your dancer is in need of shoes or a uniform leotard they can be picked up in the front lobby. All merchandise can be signed out at the front desk and will be billed to your Family Account.

Class Time!

1

Please wait to enter your classroom until your teacher has invited students in.

2

Parents for all classes are invited to enjoy the front lobby, especially parents of our preschoolers. All classes can be viewed through a camera system throughout the studio. Parents are also welcome to drop their children off and return once the class is finished.

3

Upon the conclusion of class, teachers will help connect dancers with their adults. Please make sure to pick up your child in a timely fashion. Parents arriving late, please text the studio line at (626)381-9003. If regular late pickups accure, family accounts will be charged a $10 late pick up fee.

New Student Trial Classes

1

If your dancer is a new student to our program, they have the option to select their first class as a trial. Students must enroll in the class and then select the "Trial Class" option during enrollment.

2

Students will be charged a $20 fee for their initial trial class. Families must notify the office at info@sierramadredancecenter.com within 24 hours if they will continue OR discontinue with the session. Failiure to notify the office will result in being charged for the month of tuition.

3

If upon conclusion of the class they decide to continue in the session the trial fee will be deducted from the first month’s tuition.
