CLASSROOM DRESS CODES

Creative Movement & Preschool Ballet

Petite Ballerinas, Blooming Ballerinas & Dance with Me

Students are encouraged to wear a black or pastel colored leotard, pink tights, and pink ballet slippers. Small skirts are allowed.  No large tutus or costumes.  Hair should be pulled off of the face in either a bun or a ponytail.

Early Elementary Classes

Pre-Primary Ballet, Jazz Funk, & Totally Tap

Students are expected to wear a *TEAL colored leotard, pink tights, and hair in a bun. Appropriate dance shoes for each style are required (pink ballet slippers, tan jazz shoes, black tap shoes).  Black shorts or leggings can be added for jazz and tap classes.  No skirts or loose clothing.

 

Primary A, Primary B, Beginning Jazz, & Beginning Tap

Students are expected to wear a *DARK PURPLE colored leotard, pink tights, and hair in a bun. Appropriate dance shoes for each style are required (pink ballet slippers, tan jazz shoes, black tap shoes).  Black shorts or leggings can be added for jazz classes and tap classes.  No skirts or loose clothing.

*COLOR ASSIGNED LEOTARDS ARE AVAILABLE AT THE STUDIO FOR PURCHASE

Beginning Hip Hop

Students may wear street clothes that they can move in easily, but MUST wear long pants to class (no shorts or skirts). Students should purchase/ wear a standard BLACK (white accents only) high top converse-like shoe just for class as their everyday street shoes are not allowed. No crop tops or exposed midriff allowed.

Musical Theater

Musical Theater students may wear street clothes that they can move in easily. Tan jazz shoes are required.

Elementary Classes cont.

Ballet/Jazz/Tap Levels 1 & 2 

Students are expected to wear a BLACK colored leotard, pink tights, and hair in a bun and Appropriate dance shoes for each style are required (pink ballet slippers, tan jazz shoes, black tap shoes).  Black shorts or leggings can be added for jazz classes and tap classes.  No skirts or loose clothing.

Upper Elementary & Middle School Classes

Hip Hop Levels 1 & 2 

Students may wear street clothes that they can move in easily, but MUST wear long pants to class (no shorts or skirts). Students should purchase and wear a standard BLACK (white accents only) high top converse-like shoe just for class as their everyday street shoes are not allowed. No crop tops, exposed sports bras or midriff allowed.

SMDC CLASSES

All Company Cohorts

Students are required to wear a BLACK colored leotard, pink tights, and hair in a bun and Appropriate dance shoes for each style are required (pink ballet slippers, tan jazz shoes, black tap shoes).  Black shorts or leggings can be added for non-ballet classes. Cohorts will also be assigned colored ballet belts to be worn during ballet classes.

Hip Hop Company (Crew and Tribe) 

Students are encouraged to wear street clothing that reflect hip hop style and culture (baggy layers, hats, etc) to class/rehearsals. Unlike our developmental program, any street shoes are allowed (no black soles) as long as soles are cleaned/and or wiped down before entering studio.  A selected team uniform and a specific street shoe will be worn for most local performances. No crop tops or exposed sports bras allowed.
