Tuition

Tuition Payment Policies

Tuition is billed monthly for the full dance season, August through May.
The first tuition payment for August is due one week before classes begin. All subsequent tuition payments are billed on the first day of each month.
Tuition is calculated based on the full season and divided into consistent monthly payments. Although the schedule may include more or fewer class weeks in a particular month, monthly tuition remains the same. Makeup classes, tuition credits, and prorated adjustments are not provided for scheduled holiday closures. Tuition is prorated only in August and December, as outlined in our tuition rates.
If the initial August payment is not received by the stated deadline, the student’s enrollment may be released and offered to a student on the waitlist.
Students with an outstanding balance from a previous session or season will not be permitted to enroll in new classes until the account has been paid in full.
A valid credit or debit card must remain on file for every enrolled student, including students participating through a charter school program.
Accounts with an outstanding tuition balance after the seventh day of the month will be charged a $25 late fee.
Sierra Madre Dance Center accepts Visa, Mastercard, and bank draft payments.

Tuition Types

Auto Pay

Payments will automatically be withdrawn from your card on file the first of each month, with the exception of the beginning of each session when they will be withdrawn one week before the start of classes.

(No risk of late fees)

Self-Pay

Families must manually submit payment, one (1) week before the start of the month, credit card or bank draft through the Parent Portal, or pay with cash or check in person. If self-pay fees aren’t paid before the first of the month the card on file will be charged on the first of the month.

Charter

Charter - This option is only for students who receive tuition funds through their charter school. SMDC currently works with iLead, Excel, and Blue Ridge. A purchase order must be submitted in the enrolled student's name for the dates of service. Upon enrollment please email the studio letting us know which charter school your dancer is with.

Self-pay accounts, returned checks, or declined cards will be subject to a $25 late fee

if tuition payment is not received before the start of classes or the first of the month.

Annual Registration Fee:

A non-refundable registration fee of $25 per student is charged upon enrollment and each August at the start of the fall season.

Tuition:

Tuition at Sierra Madre Dance Center is designed as a consistent monthly payment for the full dance season (August–May), making budgeting simple for our families. Because tuition is based on the entire season rather than the number of classes held in a given month, the monthly rate remains the same regardless of whether a month contains more or fewer class weeks.

Tuition is prorated only for the months of August and December to reflect the abbreviated schedules at the beginning of the season and during the holiday break. No prorated tuition, credits, or adjustments are provided for any other month.

Monthly Tuition Rates (August–May: August and December are prorated)

$85 – First class per month
$60 – Each additional class per month
$385 – Unlimited Tuition (6 or more classes per week)

Multi-Student Discount

10% off tuition for Student #2
15% off tuition for Student #3 and each additional student

Withdrawal, Cancellations & Refund Policy

Enrollment at Sierra Madre Dance Center is a commitment for the full dance season. Tuition reserves your dancer's place in class and staffing is scheduled based on enrollment.

Withdrawal During the Season

Students who withdraw from a class during the season for reasons other than a documented medical condition will be charged a $55 early withdrawal fee per class. Tuition payments that have already been processed are non-refundable.

Enrollment Cancellations Prior to the Season

If your dancer is unable to attend a class after registering, written notice must be submitted by email at least two (2) weeks prior to the start of classes. Cancellations received less than two weeks before classes begin will incur a cancellation fee equal to one week's tuition.

Refund Policy

All registration fees, tuition payments, and other charges are final and non-refundable unless otherwise stated in these policies.

Missed Classes & Make-Up Classes

No refunds or tuition credits are provided for missed classes. Students may attend a make-up class within 30 days of the absence, subject to class availability. Please check with the front desk prior to attending a make-up class to ensure the class is an appropriate fit.

Tuition Structure

Tuition is based on the full 35-week dance season and is divided into equal monthly payments for your convenience. Monthly tuition remains the same regardless of the number of class meetings in a particular month. Studio closures for scheduled holidays and calendar variations are already reflected in the seasonal tuition structure and do not qualify for prorated tuition, credits, or refunds.

May & Recital Instruction

The month of May is structured differently due to our annual recital. While students may have fewer in-studio classes, instruction continues through mandatory dress rehearsals and recital performances at the theater. These rehearsals provide an additional 3–4 hours of teacher-led instruction and are considered an integral part of the educational experience and overall instructional hours for the season.
