SMDC is our junior company program and is designed for students who are ready to take their dance training to the next level. This track requires specific hours of training per week, assigned cohorts, and training in different styles of dance in order to promote a well-rounded dance education. Dancers are required to adhere to a strict dress code and meet attendance requirements.  The SMDC also participates in additional performance opportunities throughout the year such as The Nutcracker, Spring Ballet, and local showcases and events.

  • Audition / Assessment

    • Students entering the third grade (8 years old) and above

    • Demonstrates proficient dance technique appropriate to age and development

  • Class Requirements

    • Each cohort will have a set of required weekly and monthly classes.​

    • Additional optional classes are available.

  • Committed Attendance for the Entire Program Year (August - June)

    • Maximum of 3 unexcused absences unless arranged with instructors well in advance

    • Illnesses and Family Emergencies are considered excused absences

    • Class Requirements are based on assigned cohorts

  • Adherence to Strict Dress Code

    • Ballet - Black leotard, pink tights, ballet slippers, hair in a clean and secure bun

    • Jazz - Black leggings or fitted shorts may be slipped on over ballet clothes, jazz shoes

    • Hip Hop Crew - Pants and street clothes one can move in, tennis shoes

    • Full participation in the following:

      • Athletic Garage Festival (Crew Only)

      • Sierra Madre Halloween Festivities

      • Nutcracker (Ballet Only)
