FAQs

  • Will all students who attend an SMDC placement class make it into the company?

    • No, students must meet specific age, development, and technique benchmarks in order to be placed into an SMDC class.  However, not getting placed in an SMDC class for the 2019-20 year does not prevent them from getting placed in SMDC in the future.

  • My child only wants to take ballet, is that okay?

    • No, if your child only wants to take ballet they can do so in our Developmental Program but not in the Company Program.

  • My child only wants to take jazz, is that okay?

  • My child is interested in ballet, jazz, and hip hop but I’m not sure they are quite ready to be a part of the company.  What are their options?

    • If your child is not ready to push their technique or a more serious class environment is not for them yet, they can still take ballet, jazz, and hip hop as part of the developmental program.

  • If my child is placed in SMDC but not in Crew, can they still take Hip Hop?

    • Yes, they can enroll in either Hip Hop 1, 2 or 3 depending on the teacher's recommendation.  If they participate in an SMDC assessment, and want Hip Hop in our developmental program, we will enroll them in one of those classes so they do not also have to participate in the online enrollment process.

  • Will SMDC students perform in both performances of the 2019 Spring Recital?

    • Yes, we plan to have two performances again and SMDC and Crew students will perform in both shows.
